dry January

Who’s participating in Dry January? Anyone cut down their alcohol consumption, as a New Year’s resolution? Maybe you want to enjoy a fun drink, but skip the hangover!?

We love a strong beverage, but we will be sober until February as we are officially partaking in Dry January. This decision was necessary for us to maximize our wellness routines. We want to start the new year with improved energy levels, gut health, immune systems, and fitness gains. Let’s face it, the older we get, the hangovers get worse. Brain fog, headaches, and overall fatigue definitely interfere with our workouts and impact the food we consume. Restless/sleepless nights lead to low energy days. It’s a vicious cycle. We are not quitting alcohol forever, just reprogramming our routines, from the inside out.

After only ONE week of zero alc, L’s Oura ring readiness scores were at an all time high. Ten days in, we have felt much “lighter”, more energetic, and getting optimal sleep. Experiencing these results makes it much easier to stick to “the plan” for the remainder of the month.

It’s always hard to jump into a new year, after the holidays. Getting back into daily routines can be tricky. Incorporating new practices can be overwhelming. Yet, once the date reads January 1st, we are expected to do it all at once. For us, losing alcohol was the first step to managing our 2025 goals. Usually, we would reach for a drink to unwind. So, we came up with things we could do to relax, sans alcohol. Instead, we are walking on the treadmill (bonus points if you can get outside), playing games, reading, puzzling, and/or making fun n/a drinks. Some variation of a Mocktail. We usually have Pellegrinos on hand, but sometimes, sparkling water just doesn’t cut it.

We came up with two easy mocktails; named after a couple of our favorite places. It’s the little things, right?! Our mocktails are significant other and kid approved, and we promise they taste better when you drink them from your most beloved stemware!

Cheers!
